Biblicistic Rationalism is an attitude that reduces all things knowable to that which is claimed to be written in the Bible. It is Rationalism because it will accept only what is presented to reason as worth knowing. It is Biblicistic because the primary data that it regards as worth knowing comes from what is claimed to be “The Bible”.

In Biblicistic Rationalism, there is no sense of the mystery of God precisely because it claims that everything knowable about God has been written in the Bible. Nor is there any space for mediated “faith” in the sense of a faith that is handed on throughout history. There is only a faith that is defined by and received from an “Interpreter” whose authority is claimed to be “biblical.”
